Supporting Families from the First Diagnosis

GRADSA’s Medical Outreach is committed to helping ensure families receive a compassionate, positive, and accurate Down syndrome diagnosis experience. We work alongside medical professionals to provide current, evidence-based resources and best practice guidelines when delivering the Down syndrome diagnosis.  Most importantly, we want families to know they are not alone.  Our trained Medical Outreach Coordinator are available to connect with new and expectant parents, answer questions, provide resources, and offer support as families begin their Down syndrome journey.  

  • Partner with medical providers to promote best practices for delivering a Down syndrome diagnosis
  • Connect with new and expectant families and provide a welcoming, supportive point of contact
  • Provide current, evidence-based resources to families and healthcare professionals
  • Equip medical professionals with information, presentations, and resources about Down syndrome
  • Provide information packets, books, brochures following a new diagnosis.
  • Deliver welcome baskets to families post natally
  • Trained Medical Outreach Representatives through Lettercase, a program of the University of Kentucky Human Development Institute (HDI)
  • Build relationships and strengthen connections between healthcare providers, families, and the Down syndrome community
  • Offer ongoing support and connection to families as they navigate their Down syndrome journey

Christie Ashby

Christie is a stay-at-home mom of 3 boys: Prior to being at home Christie was a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA/L) in the acute care setting of OHRH. Christie has served on the GRADSA Buddy Walk committee for many years and currently serves as the President on the GRADSA Board of Directors.

Cindy is a stay-at-home mom of 2 daughters. Prior to being at home Cindy worked in the financial planning industry for over 15 years.  Cindy has served on the GRADSA Buddy Walk committee and the GRADSA board for many years.

Renea is a mom of 4 children.  Renea has worked in the medical field for over 25 years. Renea and her husband Jonathan have both served on the GRADSA board and the Buddy Walk committee for many years.Â
