Our Story
The Green River Area Down Syndrome Association was founded as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization governed by a passionate board of parent and professional volunteers. Driven by the desire to fill support gaps in rural and suburban Kentucky counties, Green River Area Down Syndrome Association has grown into a vital regional beacon of service, education, and community advocacy.
Through decades of careful program growth, Green River Area Down Syndrome Association has remained completely community-funded. Operating without federal aid, we rely on the continuous generosity of local corporations, individual donors, and fundraising programs to deliver all our primary developmental resources entirely free of charge to families.
Proud National Affiliations
To maintain high standards of service, developmental programs, and legislative advocacy, Green River Area Down Syndrome Association proudly partners with prominent national networks:
Supporting 10 Western Kentucky Counties

Whether we are coordinating educational IEP support in a local rural school district, sending newborn welcome baskets to local regional hospitals, or hosting community transition events, we are proud to serve our 10 counties.
